Fluxer Trial Feedback
As you may have seen, over the past couple of weeks we have spent some time testing Fluxer and then gathering feedback from the TGT community. First of all, thank you to everyone who took the time to test it and share your opinions! ♥️
There was plenty to like about Fluxer (although this was a bit buggy 😅). It’s Discord-style interface made it instantly familiar and easy to jump straight into conversations. Voice chat and screensharing built-in. Development was moving quickly and it’s open source nature gives it a promising future. We could also see the potential for it hosting additional communities alongside The Gamers’ Tavern.
However, after the staff have carefully considered all of the feedback given, we’ve decided that The Gamers’ Tavern will continue to call Discourse our home. The majority felt like Fluxer wasn’t well suited to the kind of in-depth and long-form discussions which have become a core part of TGT since our migration from Discord to Discourse earlier this year. The asynchronous nature of Discourse’s forums allows our patrons to participate in the community regardless of their time zone or day-to-day life, and conversations remain relevant and easy to return to days, weeks and even months later! And the chat plugin is good enough and has plenty of emojis, stickers and gifs to get us by!
Other features such as calendar events allow us to easily tell each other about our upcoming streams and organise when the next TGT “Get Together” will be. Or the native use of RSS feeds to create posts about the latest gaming news. The feature set has become invaluable to our community.
That said, one concern that stood out above everything else. We simply don’t want to split the community! Even running both platforms side by side would likely introduce duplicate discussions and risk the community becoming separated based on platform preference. We don’t want that, and we don’t think you want that either. We’ve got an awesome bunch of weirdos people here and it would be a great shame to spoil that!
It’s clear that Fluxer is still in its early stages. Mobile apps are still in beta and several of the features we’d consider important are either missing or still in development. We’ll definitely keep an eye on Fluxer’s development and if it reaches the point where it could genuinely meet the needs for our community, then we may trial it again in the future. But for now, we’re waving goodbye to Fluxer. 👋
Please note; On 11/07/2026, all data from The Gamers’ Tavern’s Fluxer instance will be deleted. If there is anything you want save, please ensure you do so before this date. Thank you!
The Gamers' Tavern is a cozy place where you can rest and have fun with others gamers. This community main goal is to provide everyone a cozy and safe place to keep in touch and play together.
