The old place has been totally gutted, all the rotting stuff stripped out, and refitted with shiny stuff and…I’ve lost my way with this analogy already. Anyway.

We told you that we were keeping our eye on stuff and genuinely, we have been. We just wanted them to be good enough that we could give it a good test out.

We set up a self hosted instance of Fluxer. As Alex discussed here, we’ve been watching this one closely as it seems to be the only one out of all of the Discord alternatives that have sprung up that offer what we wanted: self hosting, Discord like environment, good moderation capabilities, etc etc.

It is literally a Discord clone. Just without all the stalky stalky tracky tracky. Did I mention it is self hosted?! There's no tracking. No ads. No data harvesting. Just the way we like it.

BUT. It is still an experiment at this stage. It is open source, and being managed by a very small dev team who seem to be working tirelessly to improve it. Thus, there are quirks and niggles. It’s not perfect (yet). But that’s what we know and love about FOSS, right?

Sign ups are a manual approval process at the moment- As such- please be a little patient if we’re not on it straight away. There's also no notification that tells us when some has registered- so if you find you're waiting a while, please feel free to ping one of the staff and we'll take a look.

This is just an experiment. We know a lot of you miss the Discord style of interacting and didn't get on with Discourse- if so, this is the perfect time for you to jump back in with us if you want.

As always, we won’t make any decisions without consulting you all or getting your feedback first.
